Basic Training in EMDR Therapy
Registration Information
Before submitting your application for Basic Training, please read through this helpful Registration Information page. We hope that it will answer many of your questions, and guide you through the application process.
Eligibility
Licensed
To be accepted to EETC’s Basic Training program in EMDR Therapy, you must be licensed for independent practice as a mental health clinician or meet alternate EMDR International Association eligibility criteria.
Pre-licensed
Graduate students and post-graduate pre-licensed clinicians are eligible to participate in the training, and we offer a pre-licensed discount to Associates and Interns.
Training Requirements
Please review the following six program requirements for EMDR Education and Training Center’s Basic Training in EMDR Therapy:
Attendance: participants must attend all training days in their entirety and actively participate in all practicum and consultation sessions in order to earn CE credit and receive documentation of completion of training.
Study: participants must plan to read, in their entirety, the following two texts:
Shapiro, F. (2018). Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Basic Principles, Protocols, and Procedures (3rd ed.). New York: The Guilford Press.
Leeds. A.M. (2016). A Guide to Standard EMDR Therapy Protocols for Clinicians, supervisors, and Consultants, 2nd edition. New York: Springer Publishing Company.
Homework: consultation sessions require participants to 1) prepare written summaries of their clinical use of the specific procedures taught and practiced in the training; and 2) complete and discuss structured self-evaluation forms about their clinical experiences.
Experiential Practice: this training includes extensive experiential practice. Participants should be prepared to work on personal issues in the practice sessions; however, the experiential practice portion of the training is for training purposes and is not a replacement for personal psychotherapy. Participants who are not willing or able to participate in experiential work should not apply. If you have any questions about these training requirements, please contact EETC prior to submitting your registration application.
Clinical Practice: this training is focused on the application of EMDR Therapy in the treatment of disorders related to trauma and neglect. Participants should have a minimum of two current clinical cases (clients), and be willing to discuss their clinical experiences and application of what they learn over the course of the training program.
Special Needs Advanced Notification: If you have special needs, we ask that you please email us at the time of your registration so that we may have sufficient time to accommodate your needs.
Training Fees & Refund Policy
Training Fees
Program fees can be paid in full upon registration or, if you prefer, in three equal installments. If paying in installments, the three equal installments will be charged as follows: installment #1) upon acceptance of application; installment #2) the week prior to the first training weekend; installment #3) the week prior to the third training weekend.
Payment is to be made via Stripe. If you prefer to pay by check, please notify our office.
Training Fee Discounts
A discounted early registration tuition is available for full-time employees of nonprofit or government agencies, as well as for pre-licensed clinicians and full-time graduate students.
A reviewer discount, equal to the nonprofit rate, is available to licensed mental health professionals who meet eligibility criteria and who provide documentation of having completed an EMDRIA approved basic training in EMDR Therapy. In addition to receiving the discounted rate, reviewers can earn up to 10 group consultation hours toward EMDRIA Certification. To be eligible for the reduced tuition, please submit verification of completion of Basic Training in EMDR Therapy at the time of registration.
Tuition Refunds
After your application has been accepted, tuition is refundable upon written request up to 45 days before the first day of training, less a $75 administration fee.
Within 45 days of the training, a refund will be made only if the vacancy can be filled from the waiting list. If the vacancy can be filled, there will be a $150 administration fee. After the beginning of the training, no accommodations, refunds, or credits will be made for changes in personal, family, or business situations, including medical events. We do not fill vacancies that take place after the beginning of the training.
Should you need to withdraw after the start of the training for which you have registered, you may request a transfer to the next training cycle by submitting a request in writing, along with the $150 transfer fee. At the next training cycle, you may repeat the portions previously completed, or merely those portions not yet completed. A transfer is not a new registration. Your original tuition is not refundable should you be unable to attend the next training cycle.
