Live Remote Training

Participants are required to attend all training sessions and actively engage in supervised practice exercises and group consultation to earn CE credits and receive completion documentation. For information on options available if you choose to withdraw before completing the training, please refer to the Transfer Agreement.

Licensed

To be accepted to EETC’s Basic Training in EMDR Therapy, you must be licensed for independent practice as a mental health clinician or meet alternate EMDR International Association eligibility criteria.

Pre-licensed

Graduate students and post-graduate pre-licensed clinicians are eligible to participate in the training; however, they must be on a licensing track, seeing clients, and working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician. Please reference EMDRIA’s eligibility requirements for EMDR training.

1. Provide effective stabilization and EMDR Therapy to individuals suffering from PTSD, panic attacks, and phobias of traumatic origin;
2. Describe key principles of Shapiro’s (2018) Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) Model;
3. List 5 elements of a memory network;
4. Explain the standard EMDR 3-pronged protocol;
5. Create a treatment plan that includes an organized sequence of targets for EMDR reprocessing;
6. Determine whether a client meets readiness criteria for EMDR reprocessing or requires extended preparation;
7. Explain the impact of attachment classifications on the 8 phases of EMDR Therapy;
8. Describe the importance of screening for dissociation prior to EMDR reprocessing;
9. Demonstrate effective use of at least one dissociative screening tool to screen for a dissociative disorder prior to using any bilateral stimulation procedures;
10. Demonstrate the ability to utilize 5 methods for monitoring and decreasing the intensity of dissociative states;
11. Discuss the effects of bilateral stimulation and importance of dual-attention during trauma reprocessing;
12. Summarize the purpose, and carry out with adequate fidelity, each of the steps in the 8-phases of the standard EMDR protocol;
13. Summarize the purpose and demonstrate effective use of Resource Development and Installation;
14. Describe possible cultural adaptations to each of the 8-phases of standard EMDR protocol;
15. Identify possible modifications to standard EMDR protocol when working with children and adolescents;
16. Describe the difference between EMDR and EMD;
17. Describe the purpose and procedure for utilizing the Recent Event Protocol (Shapiro, 2018) for unconsolidated memories;
18. Describe the purpose and procedure for utilizing EMDR for treating depression;
19. Describe the purpose and procedure for utilizing EMDR for treating complex PTSD

Please carefully read the following information regarding satisfactory course completion.

Satisfactory Completion of Basic Training in EMDR Therapy

On the final day of training, participants are eligible to receive an EMDR Education and Training Center Certification of Completion, verifying that they have met all program requirements and are now considered an EMDR trained clinician.

In order to receive a certificate of completion, participants must pay the full tuition fee, attend the entire training, and complete all course requirements: lecture attendance, practicum participation, consultation homework, course evaluations, and all pre- and post-tests.

No exceptions will be made, and partial credit is not available.

EMDR Education and Training Center is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. EMDR Education and Training Center maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
Basic Training in EMDR Therapy at EETC is approved for 58 continuing education (CE) credits.

The fee is $50 for the 58 CE credits for Basic Training in EMDR Therapy. Credits can be purchased during registration, or anytime prior to the completion of the trainig program.

Early Registration Training Fees

• $1350 for pre-licensed clinicians and non-profit employees
• $1500 for fully licensed clinicians

Standard Registration Training Fees

• $1500 for pre-licensed clinicians and non-profit employees
• $1700 for fully licensed clinicians

Refund Policy

Tuition is refundable up to 45 days before the first day of training, minus a $75 administration fee. Refunds within 45 days of the training are only available if the vacancy can be filled from the waiting list. If filled, a $150 administration fee will apply. After the training begins, no refunds, accommodations, or credits will be issued for personal, family, or business changes, including medical events. Vacancies occurring after the start of training will not be filled.
