Training Requirements

Attendance

Participants must attend all training days in full and actively participate in all practicum and consultation sessions to earn CE credits and to receive documentation of having completed Basic Training in EMDR Therapy.

Clinical Practice

This training is focused on the application of EMDR Therapy in the treatment of disorders related to trauma and neglect. Participants must have a minimum of two current clinical cases (clients) and be willing to discuss their experiences related to the application of EMDR Therapy in their clinical practice.

Study

Participants are required to read the following two texts in their entirety:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Basic Principles, Protocols, and Procedures by Francine Shapiro
  • A Guide to Standard EMDR Therapy Protocols for Clinicians, supervisors, and Consultants by Andrew Leeds

Special Needs Notification

Participants with any special needs are asked to please notify us via email at the time of registration so that we may have sufficient time to make the necessary accommodations.

Homework

Participants must prepare and submit written documentation of their clinical application of specific procedures taught during the training, using at least two clients seen regularly outside of the training.

Experiential Practice

This training involves extensive experiential practice. Participants should be prepared to work on personal issues during practice sessions. However, this component is for training purposes only and is not a substitute for personal therapy. Participants who are unwilling or unable to engage in experiential work should not apply.
