Phases 1 & 2

Strengthen your foundation in case conceptualization and treatment planning, and gain practical skills to integrate effective preparation techniques from day one of treatment.

Phases 3 thru 7

Deepen your understanding of phases 3–7 of the standard protocol and explore the art of reprocessing with complex clients and diverse presentations.

Phase 8

Refine your re-evaluation skills to better track progress, guide treatment planning, and support long-term healing.

Kara Nossardi, LMFT

Kara is the Director of Training and founder of EMDR Education and Training Center, as well as an EMDRIA Approved Trainer, Approved Consultant, and Certified EMDR Therapist.

Kara has been a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist since 2014 and currently practices in California, Colorado, and Florida, where she specializes in using attachment-focused EMDR Therapy in the treatment of complex Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), depression, and anxiety.

Attendance

Participants must attend all scheduled hours of the training  and complete the post-test and evaluation in order to earn CE credits and receive documentation indicating completion of this training.

EMDR Trained

To participate in an Advanced EMDR Training, you must have successfully completed an EMDRIA Approved Basic Training in EMDR Therapy.

Licensed

To be accepted to EETC’s Training programs in EMDR Therapy, you must be licensed for independent practice as a mental health clinician or meet alternate EMDR International Association eligibility criteria.

Pre-licensed

Graduate students and post-graduate pre-licensed clinicians are eligible to participate in our trainings, and we offer a pre-licensed discount to Associates and Interns.

Learning Outcomes

1. Explain the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model and how it relates to EMDR case conceptualization and treatment planning.

2. Describe the purpose and common procedures of each of the eight phases of standard protocol.

3. Demonstrate EMDR specific history taking and treatment planning: identify symptoms, triggers, and past experiences that correlate with a memory network and corresponding target sequence.

4. Describe the three-prong approach to treatment planning and EMDR reprocessing.

5. Demonstrate familiarity with at least three dissociative screening tools.

6. Discuss how to access client readiness for reprocessing and need for preparation.

7. Apply resourcing and stabilization techniques appropriate for clients with complex trauma.

8. Identify and troubleshoot common clinical stuck points during EMDR reprocessing

9. Utilize EMDR interweaves effectively when spontaneous reprocessing stalls.

10.Assess treatment affects and adjust the treatment plan accordingly.

11.Describe the common procedures for re-evaluating a complete and incomplete target memory.

12.Demonstrate increased confidence and clarity in applying all 8-phases of EMDR therapy with fidelity to standard protocol.

Requirements

Participants must attend the training in its entirety, pass the post-test with 80%, and complete the course evaluation in order to earn CE credit and receive documentation of completion of the training.

FAQs

Can anyone take this Advanced Training?

All participants must have completed an EMDRIA Approved Basic Training in EMDR Therapy to participate in this training.

What is the structure of the training schedule?

This live remote training takes place on Zoom and integrates 11 hours of live lecture, clinical examples, video demonstrations, and practice exercises.

I am an Associate who wants to register. Does my supervisor need to be EMDR Trained?

If you are not yet licensed, your supervisor need not be trained in EMDR Therapy, but should be supportive of your using EMDR Therapy.

Most of my clients have complex, co-occurring conditions. Will this training help me with them?

Yes! The EMDR 8-Phase Refresher curriculum is organized to address the fact that most clinicians see relatively few cases of single incident trauma and, instead, see mostly complex cases with co-occurring conditions.

As such, this Advanced Training on the knowledge and skills learned in Basic Training to give participants the confidence to successfully navigate all 8 Phases of EMDR with complex cases.
